William Robert Hunter, Jr., 78, of Callahan, FL passed away at his home on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was born in Lansing, MI, on December 14, 1946, to the late William Robert Hunter, Sr. and Viola Arlene Jones Hunter. William was a member of University Boulevard Nazarene Church. William retired after nearly 40 years of ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. He was also a life member of DAV, Marine Corps League and Vietnam Vets of America, having served our country with the Navy and Marines as a corpsman. 14 months of his service was in Vietnam. William served as a chaplain for Indiana Max and SuperMax Prison and worked as a Counselor at Vietnam Vets Center in Evansville, IN. He also wrote a book entitled War, Encounters with God’s Grace. He loved to read and found a love for wood carving after retirement.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Michael Hunter and Jeff Hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Virginia Smith Hunter; 2 children: Miriam Weyman (Terry) and Meghan Deese (Scott); 2 grandchildren: Elizabeth Harding (Paul) and Victoria Parks (Clay); and 3 great-grandchildren: Aimee Parks, Isaac Parks and Elijah Parks.

Memorialization will be by cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Muncie, IN.
