Verdell Carroll Payne

Verdell Carroll Payne, 77, of Jacksonville, FL passed away August 15, 2025. She was born September 16, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL to the late George Washington Carroll and Zedna Katherine Green Carroll. Mrs. Payne was a member of the VFW Post 7907 Women’s Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Alfred Payne; a daughter: Sharon Cecilia Cobb Ivey and a step-daughter: Dana Payne Hughes.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald & Amy Cobb, Randy & Kristi Cobb and James Tracy & Amy Payne; her sister: Vonnise Cobb; her grandchildren: Brittany (Michael) Competeillo, Joshua Cobb, Kelsey Cobb, Chandler Cobb, Samuel (Samantha) Ivey, Stephanie (Joshua) Rogers, Kaleen (Menia) Payne, Noah Payne; great grandchildren: Rylie Competiello and Harper Ivey and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23 at 11:00 AM at Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
