It is with profound sadness that the family of Sara Jane Quinn (McDonald), 90, announces her passing on February 28, 2026. She was in her home with family present. Sara was born July 08, 1935, in Melrose, Iowa and lived the last 25 years of retirement in Yulee, Florida.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband John W. Quinn, “Jack”. Her sons Paul D. Quinn and Patrick D. Quinn.
Survived by daughters, Jeanne Bailey, Julie Crews, Catherine Faith, Carol Quinn and son John M. Quinn. Along with 9 grandchildren Sara Jordan, John Crews, Jessie Crews, Jason Bailey, Sean Davis, Claire Faith, Jacob Faith, Colin Quinn, and Hannah Quinn. 2 greatgrandchildren Grace Jordan and Scarlett Jordan.
Sara was a military (Army) wife who moved her family many times throughout the United States and overseas. Which could be quite challenging with 6 children. Handling everything with such strength and unbelievable patience especially while John was in Korea. She made every new place feel like home. Sara instilled in her children the acceptance of others, kindness, generosity and the love of music and animals.
Sara lived a life of integrity and service, very devoted to her faith, family and community. Her devotion to Catholicism was a constant throughout her entire life. She was a lector, sang in choir, headed committees, CCD instructor, and fundraiser to many church parishes. She was always active in her communities, presently, Gracie’s Kitchen.
After raising her children, a call to help the sick and needy led her to finish her nurses’ training and become the nurse she always wanted to be.
Sara enjoyed music and loved to dance. She and John were known to “take a spin” spontaneously even in the kitchen. Her hobbies were gardening, flower arrangements, walking on the beach, art, drawing, painting, and travel. She worked on the newspaper crossword daily. Sara had a great sense of humor, quite good at word play, clever and intelligent.
A loving, caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her passing will leave a huge hole in our hearts.
There will be a Mass held for Sara on Wednesday April 8,2026 at 11:00.
