Esther Nell Weaver Tappin, a longtime resident of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on April 24, 2025. She was born on October 24, 1946, to the late Grady and Ruby Weaver.
Raised in Fernandina Beach, Esther Nell grew up near the downtown marina with her three sisters, Ellyne, Nancy and Carolyn, and a brother, Malcolm. Her childhood was filled with seaside adventures with her siblings, hiking trips to Fort Clinch, and sunny days on the beach. She was married to George Tappin for 15 years until his passing. In 2018, Esther Nell became a resident of Hilliard Life Care, where she quickly made a second family of the staff and fellow residents. She was known for her feisty, spunky spirit and her sarcastic, fun-loving humor. Visitors and residents alike will miss seeing her riding backwards down the hallways in her wheelchair in true Esther Nell fashion!!!
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Carolyn and Ellyne.
She is survived by her sister: Nancy; and brother: Malcolm.
Esther Nell will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her beloved “outlaw,” Joyce, along with the many friends and caregivers she came to love as family.
A Celebration of Life honoring Esther Nell will be held at 2:00 PM on May 13, 2025, at Life Care Center of Hilliard.
