Elizabeth (Betty) Cook Miller, 92 of Callahan, passed away on April 27, 2026 at Community Hospice Jane and Billy Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach. Betty was born on November 7, 1933 to Dessie and Eva (Pat) Cook in Tallahassee, Florida where she lived until moving to Callahan in the early 1950s. She met Donald L.B. Miller after moving to Callahan, where they married on March 9, 1956. Together they established a successful electrical contracting business, which they later moved to Jacksonville and renamed Sun Electric Company. Sun Electric remained in business for almost 50 years with Betty at the financial helm. Betty enjoyed the beach, traveling around the country in their motor home, and traveled to a number of places in Europe. She enjoyed reading and working in her yard. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a huge smile on her face that stayed until the end. She is predeceased by her parents and husband; her brother William Cook and sister Kathryn Cox.
Betty is survived by her children Mary Kate (David) Thompson and Donald Miller (Jennifer Whitley), grandchildren James (Joanna) Thompson, Jessica (Joel) Harvin, bonus grandchildren Kaila Whitley and Josh (Jesse) Whitley, great-grandchildren Oliver Thompson, Pate Harvin, Gant Harvin, Drake Thompson, Riddley Kate Harvin, Karsyn Harvin, Amira Dennis and James (JB) Whitley, sister Kate (Ray) Raulerson, one niece and five nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 2 at Live Oak Baptist Church cemetery, with the family receiving friends one hour before the service.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who cared for and loved on Betty in her final months and the loving support of the nurses, doctors, and social workers at Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Vision Building Fund at Callahan First Baptist Church or Community Hospice in Betty’s memory.
