Charles Arthur Batten, 69, of Hilliard, FL passed away on August 28, 2025. He was born in Cortez, CO on December 26, 1955, to the late Charles Joseph Batten and Arthurene Edna Gray Batten. He graduated from Central Linn High School in Halsey, OR. Charles represented the school in swimming, basketball and wrestling. He set many records and won championships in those sports. Charles proudly served in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Lynardwood in Missouri and Fort Hood in Texas. After the Army, Charles earned his CNA degree from Florida State College. He loved caring for others, especially the elderly. He was caregiver to many family members and friends. Charles loved telling jokes and going fishing. His passion was wrestling. He did not want anyone to get in the way of watching wrestling whenever it was on television.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son: Charles James “Bobo” Batten; grandson: Charles James “CJ” Batten, Jr.; brother: Elmer Lee Batten; and 2-sisters: Phylis Paddock and Mary Ann Batten.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years: Joan Conner Batten; son: Kenny Batten; grandchildren: Caylen Batten, Savannah Batten and A.J. Batten; and siblings: Velma (Jim) Spruell of Portland, OR, Gary Batten of Albany, OR, Linda (Rich) Schmidt of Macclenny, FL, David (Margo) Batten of Albany, OR, and Peggy Batten of Lebanon, OR.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
